Nightfall's innovative projects merge modern underground mining techniques with conventional hydropower and locates the lower reservoir underground 1,500 meters below surface. This standardized design results in much lower cost, water, and land use versus a conventional pumped storage project. A modular design with incremental construction over a decade or longer allows the project to match increasing renewable generation while providing stable high-income jobs to the community.
